I would try to get into New Orleans by Friday to secure a parking spot for the Greatest Show on Earth. There will be plenty of cabs running down to the Quarter and Back for about 20 dollars each way. The FQ is full of scammers who take credit cards and jack up the prices and take advantage of out of towners.Cash is the only way to go. leave the credit cards in a safe place, locked in the truck. Be careful not to bring anything other than an ID card and some cash. The parades on Canal street are fun to watch. All of which will be standing room only by Fat Tuesday. Walking through the quarter you will find everything you could ask for from A-Z more bars than you can imagine. There are several small truck stops in New Orleans.park your truck and call a cab.hotels in the city are booked a year in advance for Mardi Gras.įood is cheap unless you eat at a white table cloth french restaurant.
